We're hiring a Senior Developer
Who are we?
Airship is an established SaaS (software as a service) company based in Sheffield. We have two products that serve the best and most exciting brands in the UK hospitality industry - think Byron, The Alchemist, Leon, Turtle Bay, Chilago, Boxpark and many more.
Don’t be misled by the word ‘established’ however - we’re in an exciting phase that’s much more akin to a start-up with the recent release of one of our products, and a new proposition for our other.
We’re looking for a senior developer to join our established engineering team. The position can include remote and flexible working, so you’re not tied to the office.
Your role will kick off with mastering our overall product architectures and APIs, shadowing other developers and learning the ropes. You’ll immediately drop into our sprint kick-offs and stand-ups so you have exposure to our processes and learn how we work and who we are.
Once you’ve found your feet and know your way around our products, you’ll start collaborating with the Product Development team to brainstorm solutions to engineering challenges.
You’ll help to modernise the codebase of our older product while taking full advantage of our newer PWA’s codebase to quickly prototype, iterate and release new features, working alongside other developers and creatives. Automated testing will be part of your game, and you’ll use your skills in unit and behavioural testing to help keep expanding our code coverage.
Bugs are bugs, and we’re not immune to them either. You’ll be quality focussed, squashing the critical ones as they arise, assisting the customer success team with troubleshooting where necessary.
You’ll love writing code and deeply care about learning your craft as well as contributing to the success of our products You’ll no doubt have some of your own personal and professional projects under your belt to show off your technical interests and proven track record, and probably be somewhat obsessed with writing readable, secure, accessible, testable, standards-compliant code.
A graduate degree is not a necessity. We welcome applications from self-taught developers and graduates alike.
Benefits & culture
We work from our custom fitted out offices in the iconic Park Hill, right next to Sheffield Train station. We have views over the city, green spaces front and back and plenty of space.
We equip everyone with a Macbook as standard (but if you’d rather work on something else, we won’t force you!).
There is an EMI share options scheme in place for employees, so our gain is your gain too.
We are very open to flexible and remote working, so if you’re interested but not able to work in the office everyday, you can work remotely instead and we can meet up now and again for some team contact days (for this reason, we’d prefer if you were somewhere in the UK).
